Outpatient Stroke Rehabilitation

Chapter 7
Outpatient Stroke Rehabilitation
With the aging of the general population and an increasing number of stroke survivors, there is growing interest in outpatient stroke rehabilitation as a both an extension of and less expensive alternative to in-patient hospital-based programs. In this chapter, we evaluate the effectiveness of three forms of outpatient rehabilitation, which we have defined as: hospital-based, community-based and early supported discharge. Each will be evaluated again standard or traditional care for an outpatient stroke patient.
